New to Hackintosh, want to turn an old PC into one

I'm gonna start this off by saying that this system is going to be a core2quad build. Full specs: Q6600 Asus P5W-DH Deluxe 8gb DDR2@800MHz EVGA GTX 570 HD No other fancy peripherals, may throw an SSD in if it works

To clarify, this is to learn more than to use as I enjoy this sort of tinkering. I can get a copy of the latest version of OS X but I'm not sure if it will work, due to the age. I care little about how it will perform, more about if it will work. I've seen one source on a hackintosh website of a guy claiming to get a core2 CPU to work with Mojave, but as it's only one I'm sceptical, although his instructions look credible.

What is the communities thought? If this works, then when I build a new rig my current one will be dedicated to OS X.
