WhatsApp Gets New One Way Group Messaging Feature

WhatsApp Messenger has introduced a new group messaging feature which only allows admins to send messages to a group.

One way people use groups is to receive important announcements and information, including parents and teachers at schools, community centers, and non-profit organizations. We've introduced this new setting so admins can have better tools for these use cases.

To enable this setting, open “Group Info,” tap Group Settings > Send Messages and select “Only Admins.”

Hands On Video With 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch iPhone Dummy Units

Check out this hands on video with 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch iPhone dummy units that are based on rumored schematics for Apple's next generation smartphones.

The video was provided to 9to5Mac by @shaimizrachi, who has shared accurate dummy videos in the past. Apple is expected to unveil the two larger sized iPhones this September alongside an updated 5.8-inch OLED iPhone X. The 6.1-inch model is thought to feature an LCD display while the 6.5-inch model will likely have an OLED display.

Notably, there are also cases featured in the video by Skech which suggests that at least one case company is confident in the design.

Apple is Rebuilding Maps With Its Own Data

After a rough start, Apple is planning to relaunch Maps with its own data collected from iPhones and a fleet of cars equipped with sensors and cameras, reports TechCrunch.

This is nothing less than a full re-set of Maps and it’s been 4 years in the making, which is when Apple began to develop its new data gathering systems. Eventually, Apple will no longer rely on third-party data to provide the basis for its maps, which has been one of its major pitfalls from the beginning.

Vivo Announces TOF 3D Sensing Technology With 10X More Sensor Points Than Apple's Face ID

Vivo today announced its Time of Flight (TOF) 3D Sensing Technology which features 10X more sensor points than Apple's Face ID.

Vivo's pioneering TOF 3D Sensing Technology detects the time it takes emitted pulse light to return to the sensor to accurately map objects at up to three meters in front of it. It enables new opportunities in facial, gesture and motion recognition, 3D photography and AR, expanding the capabilities of the next generation of smart devices.

"From last year's debut of In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology, the recent launch of the truly bezel-less Vivo NEX, to our ground-breaking TOF 3D Sensing technology, we continue to forge ahead and evolve towards the truly intelligent future by opening new ways for the AI to help the consumer," said Alex Feng, Senior Vice President of Vivo. "By combining TOF 3D Sensing Technology with AI, we will continue to explore new possibilities for a better future."
