Hi,
I've recently installed high Sierra on my Gigabyte Z370 Aorus gaming 7 and I7 8700k with ATI 6970.
Overall it's been a fairly painless experience. Unibeast and multibest worked perfectly for initial set up and a bit of google foo found a efi folder setup for my audio and networking problems (I know I probably need to debug excess stuff at some point).
However, I'm having issues with my graphics card which is the AMD/ATI 6970. It's shows up fine in system information ect. However, Some apps like chrome and WhatsApp are completely unusable. And launchpad folder loads super slowly. I presume GPU acceleration isn't working or there's a frame buffer issue.
I've tried following multiple different guides but they all seem to do a different method, or are outdated information.
I've tried this method http://reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/6t8i68/radeon_6970_working_in_1023/ and it hasn't worked, I found the instructions a little vague so I presume it's down to my inexperience with clover config.
The Tonymac website has a AMD compatibility sheet, and stated my card was too much of a pain to set up. I found the information to be outdated and a little over my head/ wasn't sure what to do with the information. I wasn't disheartened as I'd seen multiple reports of it working successfully on later MacOs'
I tried to follow a YouTube video which had a similar AMD card (5000 series I think it was) and high Sierra. It involved using the vbios. Again I found it to be way over my head, and gave up as I didn't want to break something.
And finally I've tried to drop the .kext file for my card series into my efi partition, and that has messed my system completely- I've resorted to reinstalled macOS xD
Has anyone got an in depth tutorial for this card on High Sierra. I'd love to hear it. I know it's an ancient card compared to my Mobo, currently saving for a new card haha. Thanks
