What do you guys think? I'm building this for Premiere Pro and Tensorflow. My main goals now are quiet build with relatively fast export times. Currently I have an Ivy Bridge i3570k build with a GTX650, 16GB RAM.
CPU: i7 8700k, hopefully overclocked to 5GHz MOBO: Asrock Z370 Taichi COOLER: Noctua NH-D15 (single or double fan, see below) CASE: Fractal Design Meshify C RAM: 2x16GB sticks of TridentZ 3200 GPU: GTX960 2GB (I know... see below) Intake fans: 2xNF-a15 PWM Exhaust fan: 1xNF-s12a PWM Storage: 1x256GB for OS and apps, 1x256GB for scratch, 1x500GB for media. All 850 EVO. PSU: Haven't researched what's available here, but any good 600W Gold/platinum I can get with Japanese caps. Seasonic isn't sold here unfortunately
I figured since I'm prioritizing silence I went with pure SSDs. I'll store more of my media on an external HDD and connect them as needed. I understand that the TridentZ will not give enough headroom for the second fan on the Noctua, and I'm not sure if the case will accommodate shifting the fan up by 12mm. Should I get the two fan or the one fan version? The Meshify isn't the quietest case around but I figured that the excellent airflow will allow my fans to run at lower RPMs thus compensating for the lack of sound dampening. What do you think? Should I go with the Define R6 instead? Be quiet isn't available in my country so the Dark Base is out of the question. How's my intake/exhaust config? thumbs up or down? I'm n00b at airflow. Just watched a few videos on positive/negative pressure and figured I'd want positive. Apparently if I space the intakes out properly I can get more air to flow over the GPU giving better T deltas. Should I just go with all s12a instead of the nf a14? s12a is quieter but low static pressure. not sure how well that's go with the mesh in the front. now GPU. prices are crazy now not to mention i can't even get my hands on a 1060 6GB even if i wanted to. the 960 is something i can get for free from a friend and a decent upgrade from my 650. I'm willing to wait it out till Volta by the end of this year. The Taichi is untested as of yet. Do I just use the EFI for the Pro4/Extreme that's floating out there. That's it. Let me know what you like, what you don't and how to improve it. Thanks!
