Internal Volume Drive File System Recommendations

My current setup is: Optane 900P Boot Drive split with an HFS+J OS X and NTFS Win 10 boot partitions (Will convert to APFS on the next reinstall) Samsung 960 Pro in exFAT Seagate HDD in exFAT

I wasn't aware of the downsides of exFAT as a backup drive file system, but luckily, Seagate partners with Paragon for NTFS support, so I'll be changing the file system over to NTFS.

The boot drives are restricted to their APFS/HFS and NTFS file systems.

What file system should I use for the NVMe SSD (and future SATA SSDs)? Unmounting accidentally won't be an issue, but the small size file speed hit sounds like it'll be troublesome for a drive which will have program files on it. Does the SSD random read/write speed make up for the file system design when it comes with mass small file copying?

Paid solutions are on the table, so NTFS on OS X via a paid driver is an option.
