I need a laptop for school, but I want to make it into a hackintosh. I was thinking about the dell inspiron 7000 series, but I'm not sure yet. What would be the best laptop for this in your opinon? Here is the list from r/suggestalaptop for all the info and specs I want.
Total budget and country of purchase: $700 and under
Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. NO 2-1. Decent battery life 3+ hours.
How important is weight and thinness to you? Decently thin and not too heavy.
Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Ill be making a hackintosh on my own, but newer laptops usually come with windows 10 so I guess win10.
Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. decent looking 12 inches and above
Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. basic ebooks/online classes. Online browsing. Nothing too heavy.
If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? I have a desktop for that
Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? decent keyboard, no touch screen. Reliable. Able to be made into a hackintosh with minimal problems.
Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I was looking at Dell laptops and they have a wide variety with very weird pricing. The inspiron 15 7000 series is cheaper than the inspiron 14 which is an inch smaller. I'm just looking for a good laptop to make into a hackintosh. $700 or under and I think the inspiron 7000 series seems decent but idk. I know a lot more about desktops than laptops.
Preferred Specs:
Good intel CPU
8GB Ram
500GB SSD or SSD HDD combo
Decent looking screen 12in and above
Decent keyboard
Uses: Nothing too cpu heavy. Just online classes, ebooks etc. I just need a cpu that's not slow af and can run without bottlenecking or stalling preformance on ios. No gaming etc. just the basics.
