Thinkpad X220 freezes and USB 3.0 issue

I set up my X220 using http://x220.mcdonnelltech.com/ and I need help with the following issues. Any help with be greatly appreciated!

1. Random full system freezes. When it occurs, I cannot move the mouse, use keyboard shortcuts, etc. I need to hold the power button to shut it down. The CPU and RAM are not maxed when this occurs. The CPU temperature is normal and a 12 hour memtest shows no issues.

2. Random mouse freezes. When it occurs, I cannot use the track point or track pad, but I can still type fine.

3. I installed the USB 3.0 kext as per the guide, but the system profiler doesn't show any 3.0 ports. However, all ports are functional and the 3.0 port is testing at higher speeds than the 2.0 port, but I do not know if it's actually functioning as 3.0 as it isn't being detected as 3.0.
