[Success] High Sierra 10.13.2 on Kaby Lake i7-7700k / GA-Z270X-UG / NVIDIA GTX 1080ti

This is probably a pretty generic setup and nothing new, but I thought I'd share anyway. I've been out of the scene for a while and was blown away by the results and ease of install.

  • Intel Core i7-7700k
  • Gigabyte GA-Z270X-Ultra Gaming
  • Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Ti GAMING OC 11GB
  • Patriot Viper 32GB (4x8GB) PC4-27200 3400MHz
  • TP-Link Archer T9E 802.11AC AC1900
  • Kinivo BTD-300 Bluetooth 3.0

This was a vanilla install using the High Sierra Installer from Apple and Clover Configurator. Most surprising to me was the 1080ti functioned using the default OSX driver, which allowed me to get bootstrapped without another machine or any kind of GPU switch-a-roo.

After the install, the process was:

  • Download NVIDIA web driver
  • Enable NvidiaWeb system parameters
  • Set nvda_drv=1 option (I don't actually know if this was necessary)
  • Install EmuVariable driver
  • Reboot
  • Select NVIDIA web driver in Driver Manager
  • Reboot
  • Confirm web driver active (kextstat | grep nv)

Happy to answer any questions if anyone goes the same route.
