Separate kext folder for injection during update

I’m trying to figure out a way to have clover inject kexts from a different folder than my main kext injection folder (10.13). My reason for this is I am updating a couple of my machines to 10.13.1 and the installer won’t boot without my backup usb for clover. On my normal boot, I have a patched AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext along with the necessary FakeSMC...kexts for power management but the installer wants to use its own AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext which causes KP.

Is there a way to have clover recognize it is booting from the temporary “install macOS” partition and use a different folder of kexts to be injected?

Edit: I have copied the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext from /S/L/E/ to /L/E/ and have changed the version in the .plist files to 999 so that after the installation, the system will continue to boot with my patched kext.
