Does anyone have recommendations for steps I should take before I attempt to upgrade from macOS 10.12.5 to 10.12.6? The only hardware change I will be making is adding a card from OSXwifi which allegedly is plug and play. I also have an NVIDIA 760 ti which uses the web drivers. When I upgrade from 10.12.5 to 10.12.6 my plan of attack looks like this:
- clone SSD to backup HDD (I assume CCC would work)
- make a backup bootable flash drive with my current EFI config using clover configurator
- install my new WiFi/bt card
- update Sierra
- install updated nvidia web drivers
And I think that should be it, right? If something were to go catastrophically wrong I can just restore my EFI and SSD, correct?
Three more questions:
- my current hackintosh was completed using a tonymac guide. Does anyone have good references for doing a vanilla install so I can be more confident about upgrading safely?
- when I ever decide to do a fresh high Sierra install, can I continue using the same serial number, etc, from my current EFI assuming I have no hardware changes?
- I am interested in swapping my nvidia 760 ti for a 1060 (ti?) and if I am already using nvidia web drivers will I need to find a new driver for the new card, or will it already be installed, or is support for that card native to macOS?
Thanks for any feedback anyone can provide!
