Need some advice on a Bootable Installer - Only have old Mac Hardware

I have a Lion installer that I made years ago, but I can't use that with any of my current systems since they're all too new.

A relative also has a 2008 MacBook with Lion installed on it, so if I can do it using that then I could ask to borrow it.

Is there any way for me to download the full High Sierra installer on that macbook and then use that to create a bootable installer?
