Is it safe to update to High Sierra with a "faked" processor?

I built my dual-booted Hackintosh this last summer and it went pretty smoothly, minus one massive wrench thrown in things: I ordered an i7-7700K Kaby Lake processor, which apparently Macs don't like much.

I had to trick the computer into thinking that it is an older processor, and now it runs just fine. However, getting it set up to work that way was a total pain in the ass (and it's been so long now, I don't remember exactly what I did).

Is it safe for me to let OSX auto-update to High Sierra, or will I have to do all of that fighting all over again? I would like my desktop to be running the same software as my MacBook Pro, but if it's going to be a huge fiasco, I don't really have the time right this second when I'm finishing up my 2nd graphic design degree and need both of my computers up and running.

Thanks for the help. You Hackintosh guys taught me a lot this summer and I couldn't have done it without you all.

These are my specs:

i7-7700k

Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 6

32 GB DDR4

GeForce GTX 1070

250 GB SSD, 2x 1TB HDD
