Clean Install HS On Current Sierra System

Hey all, I'd like to get High Sierra installed on an old Intel 6 series system (sandy bridge, gigabyte board, kepler gpu) that's currently running Sierra. It's been well over a year since I've tinkered with any of this, and I just want to make sure I'm taking every precaution. I've cloned my boot drive, backed up personal files, saved my serial number that's been used for imessage, etc. What other preparations need be made? Additionally is there a really in depth clover guide for HS that addresses problems with older hardware? I'm hesitant to use the generic guide from something like tonymac just because I can't imagine it possibly being that simple. It feels like with every new version, less and less attention is given to those of us with aging yet perfectly capable hardware which is why I've been putting it all off for so long. I just need someone to point me in the right direction.
