Should i build a hackintosh or new iMac?

Hey guys, sorry if this post is a violation of the rules in some way. My MBP from late 2011 is, after almost 7 years of great use with huge projects, starting to feel its age. Im considering two things: either buying a brand new iMac with 16gb ram, i7 processor and ssd—disk. This will set me back maybe 2500 usd Or: building a hackintosh. Ive never built a computer before, but I have some technical knowledge and understanding. Naturally, the price of a new imac is a big bullett to swallow, but i'll reckon it'll prolly give me a trustworthy workstation for music and schoolwork for maybe 6—7 years. Would u recommend a hackintosh as a main workstation? I also think id have limited patience as I want my production setup to work — if i wanna do music I wanna do music. I dont wanna be forced to tinkering when im supposed to use that time for music. Im by no means a proffesional either and with more school coming up ill reckon it will become more of a hobby, but ive been making music for 8 years and i love it. Ill probably do it as a hobby, maybe some commissioned projects here and there. Sorry if this was a long read but i really cant decide. Thanks for any insight.
