Here are my build stats: MB: GA-Z77X-UD5H | CPU: i7 3770K | GPU: GeForce GTX 660 Ti | El Capitán and Windows 8.1 dual-boot with Clover | built in early 2013
I recently acquired an Apple Thunderbolt display (Thunderbolt 2 I believe, I'd have to get an adapter) that I would like to use with my hackintosh. I have an old Cinema Display with miniDisplayPort (an adapter to DP since my CPU has DP, not mDP) that works perfectly on both operating systems. The TH display won't work with that adapter in either the MB or the GPU.
My understanding is that the GPU can't take Thunderbolt displays, so it has to be connected to the motherboard. The TonyMac buyers guide has a motherboard with TH3 listed, but I believe it's discontinued as I can't find it anywhere.
I have two questions: Is there another motherboard that will work in a hacktintosh that takes TH3? Or, will the display with adapter work in USB3.1-C (expanding my motherboard search)?
Thanks for any help! This computer was built for me by a friend, but I have a basic understanding of what's going on enough to do upgrades myself.
