Final Cut Pro X/Compressor won't render "non-pro" codecs

Hi All,

For some reason final cut pro and compressor will not render "non-pro" codecs. I can render to things like apple pro-res and other pro codecs, but when I try to render to something like mov or mp4 it crashes, giving a bad sector error. Any ideas?
