An Odd Post - Getting Snow Leopard to Run on an Unsupported Graphics Chipset?

I know 90% of you won't be able to respond to this, because this involves very old hardware. But hopefully somebody can help.

Basically, I have a laptop with 855GME graphics, which is known to not be supported on any version of Mac OS X after some version of 10.4. The thing is, everything will probably work in general, but there will only be one resolution, and there will be no option for the display's native resolution. The reason I am asking this question in the first place is because this chipset was really never mentioned in the Hackintosh community after Leopard. I'm wondering if anything new emerged around the Snow Leopard era that allowed for forced resolutions.

So, in short, is there any way to force a resolution onto Snow Leopard, despite it being installed on this chipset?
