What's the best version to run on my system?

I've had major trouble installing Sierra (my graphics card isn't that well supported), and I was wondering if any other versions would work.

My specs: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz Six-Core Processor XFX R9 280 8GB DDR3 RAM Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 Motherboard

Also, -I have access to a mac -I have tried all I really can to get Sierra to work
