Quick Question from a Beginner

Hi I'm buying parts for my build next week and I just wanted to know what your thoughts are.

First off I'm a Graphic Designer, I work with little vectors on Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator for Merch by Amazon (t-shirt design) and sometimes I work with RAW images on Lightroom.

To give you an idea of how powerful (/s) my current machine is, it's a base model 13-inch, Late 2013 rMBP (i5-4258U and 4GB RAM). It was bought years ago for college paperworks and not intended at all for the tasks I'm throwing at it right now. Although it fares just fine, I am now prepared to move on to a desktop setting.

What makes this hard for me though is that I don't know where I should cut corners (budget build) and here's where I will be needing your insights on.

  • Gigabyte GA-B250M-D3H
  • Corsair Vengeance LPX 2400
  • Corsair VS450
  • Sandisk 120 SSD
  • Sandisk 120 SSD
  • Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD
  • Gigabyte GT 1030 OC LP 2GB (for sleep/wake)

Do I go for:

Pentium G4560 and 16GB RAM

or do I go for

i5-7400 and 8GB RAM

given that I don't do much but create vector graphics and the occasional Lightroom edits?

Thank you.
