I’ve been wanting to build a hackintosh for a long time and I’ve only built one computer and helped build 2nd so I’m not super experienced.
My idea is to build a cheep windows machine now but strategically selecting compatible parts that I can reuse. For example the case the power supply and the mother board will be selected for future use to build a hackintosh.
For now I’ll buy cheepy graphics card, processor, memory, hard drive. Not like the cheesiest but just low end last years stuff.
When ready I’ll buy the compatible processor and graphics cards for the hackintosh and (probably up grade ram and ssd and fans and what not).
I don’t want to save up because I can deal with a $300~600 windows machine on the cheep now. But I would not be happy skimping on the hackintosh. In the long run it will be more money but I could play games with my friends next week or I can wait 6 months and have my decked out hackintosh.
Is this a bad idea? Is there some unforeseen issue with waiting 6 months between buying the mother board and the graphics card and processor? Or is this plane relatively safe?
