Live Blog of Apple's September 12th iPhone Event

We will be providing coverage of Apple's September 12th iPhone X/iPhone 8 event at the Steve Jobs Theater beginning September 12th at 10:00am PDT / 1:00pm EDT.

We're likely to see the launch of three new iPhones at the event - an iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus. The iPhone X would be Apple's tenth anniversary smartphone. It's believed to feature an edge-to-edge 5.8-inch OLED display with a notch in the bezel at the top for the earpiece and front facing camera. It will no longer use a physical Home button. Instead, there will be a new dynamic area denoted by a line at the bottom of each app. The device will purportedly incorporate a revolutionary 3D sensor that is years ahead of the competition to enable facial recognition and augmented reality features. It's also said to feature a glass back to facilitate inductive wireless charging. The latest reports claim Apple was not successful in embedding Touch ID under the display and so the iPhone 8 will only feature Face ID (Pearl ID) for biometric security. The iPhone X will have an A11 6-core processor with two high performance cores and four energy efficient cores. This should result in some good benchmarks.

Apple is expected to offer the iPhone X in black, silver, and gold (copper?) colors and 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage capacities, all with 3G of RAM. The price of the flagship device is likely to go up with some analysts predicting a base price of around $1000.
