"macOS could not be installed on your computer" trying to install Sierra.

I followed this step by step. It went thru the 1st round of installing Sierra, then I reboot and it gives me the error message in the title.

I've tried about 20 times to install Sierra and I've getting all kinds of problems. I've been able to create a bootUSB and able to access the install program.

The problem seems to be after it installs the installer. For some reason when it reboots, I can't boot to the target SSD, so I boot back to the USB, bring up Clover boot loader, then select the target SSD... this is where I get the error message.

Q. After it reboots, what are you supposed to do next? I can't boot from the SSD, so I can only boot from the USB. (this is the 2nd time in the process that I boot from the USB). Then I select the SSD.

What am I supposed to do after the 2nd boot?
