Apprehensive to update to High Sierra - Can I have an APFS SDD and a HFS+ HDD at the same time?

To have both an APFS formatted SDD, and keep my HDD as HFS+, is this obvious when installing High Sierra.

Or do both drives get formatted to APFS, and would I then have to re-format the HDD as HFS+ at a later date?
