I used to have a 2008 Aluminum MacBook that died a while ago. So to compensate, a friend gave me his old laptop, a Dell Inspiron 15R 5520. Soon enough after spending about $10 for a AirPort card, I can say this laptop is the perfect MacBook replacement.
So far sleep and iMessage don't work, but I'm 100% okay with that.
I did make a bootpack if anyone is interested in installing macOS High Sierra on this laptop
