After a few days of trial and error I've managed to get Sierra to work with my Kaby Lake NUC (i7) and my akitio node with a NVIDIA GTX 980 Ti. Works like a charm :)
The NUC is dual-boot so I'm able to use my Oculus Rift in Win10 also, another win.
