I recently successfully finished my hackintosh, with these parts: * Intel Core i7 - 6700 (K series and 7000 series work aswell) * Asus Z170 Pro Gaming / Aura * 8gb Corsair Vengance DDR4 2133Mhz * ASUS Radeon RX470 Strix (Same process for the RX480)
The Installation The installation is rather simple. I used UniBeast Sierra and my friends iMac to burn macOS 12 onto a USB alongside Clover. Booting to this will give you the normal clover boot screen. You do not need to do anything to boot successfully. Once in, go through the installation and follow on screen instructions. When it comes to drive selection, go to utilities > Disk Utility and format one of your drives in Mac OS X Extended (Journaled). I also recommend using a GUID partition scheme for updating in the future.
Post Install Ethernet You can find ethernet drivers in MultiBeast (Intel Mausi ethernet).
Sound For sound, I found it best to use VooDooHDA and simply lower Input gain in System Preferences > VoodDooHDA to get perfect sound.
Graphics Enabling Graphic acceleration is a bit more involved. There's two routes here, editing your clover configuration or typing in the config settings manually. Either way there's a bit of configuration to do. IN the BIOS, go to advanced and into System agent configuration, and set Primary graphics to CPU. At this point, you won't get any output from your GPU until you're into an operating system, so I recommend plugging an additional cable from your iGPU to your monitor. Save and reset, boot into your clover drive and go into graphics configuration. Graphics cards should be listed as 2.
- Turn on inject EDID, and set vendor ID to "0x1002" and product ID to "0x67EF". This is the ID relating to the RX460.
- Go down to Inject ATI and turn it on. Set FakeID to "0x67EF1002" and set FBConfig to "RadeonFrameBuffer". This sets your graphics card's device ID to that of the RX460, allowing the RX460 kext to load.
- Turn off inject intel to prevent your iGPU from loading.
At this point, boot into your system and you should have full acceleration. If macOS loads your iGPU instead of your actual GPU, reboot using the same settings, and unplug the cable going to your iGPU when you see the apple logo.
- Note: MacOS can sometimes detect more than one monitor, even if you only have one. On first boot, this can cause an issue as the login screen may not be on the primary monitor. Just blindly type in your password and press enter, then open preferences and go to display settings, and turn on screen mirroring. Turning on iGPUMultiMonitor in the BIOS does seem to solve this issue.
At this point you should have a fully functioning hackintosh. You can go and edit the config.plist for clover so you don't have to enter the graphics settings every boot.
