I figured out what was causing my resume issues coming out of suspend.

I loaded LINGON X and disabled everything that did not look like it was a factory installed service (VOODOOPS2 Driver, ISTAT, Java Helpers, Spotify Helpers, etc) and now I haven't had a failed resume since. I hope this helps others with the same problem.
