My situation is that I do freelance audio engineering and would like to upgrade my current iMac for working with audio in Logic and Pro Tools. My frustration, however, is that I would like a machine with all of the ideal specs for under around $750. Well, as I expected, that gets me either a moderate/ok spec mac, or a really nicely equipped PC. I am also frustrated at how Apple keeps eliminating upgradability.
I am competent with both Mac and PC and fixing general issues, basic upgrades, etc. I have never built a PC, but have always wanted to, and I love the idea of having a machine with two drives: One to boot to PC and one to boot into Hackintosh.
So give it to me straight. If I follow the guides out there like at tonymac step by step and carefully purchase compatible components, do I have a good chance of being able to use it as a powerful machine for working with OSX audio editing, or am I going to be looking at having a lot of issues that will frustrate more than help me? Your insight is much appreciated.
