Is it worth building on Ivy Bridge?

So, my MBP died unexpectedly a couple weeks ago, and I've been planning to build a Hackintosh for a while, posted a build a while back, yada yada. I am going to be out of work for the foreseeable future (8-9+ months, likely) due to being overseas, in a teaching program, etc.

Found a PC for sale on FB tonight rhat runs on Ivy Bridge (seller getting me complete specs in next 24 hours as he's out right now), but basics are:

Intel Core i5-3570 CPU 3.40GHz. hdd 500gb. Ram 8ggb. Graphic card nvidia gtx 1050 4ggb

I was planning a build something more like this: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

The used PC is about half the new build, and assuming parts are compatible, is it worth it? Am I boxing myself into old, un-upgradable parts and impending obsolescence, or is it a wise buy for now?

Most of my work will be basic office duties, reddit, and Adobe Connect with three-four times a year processing video and audio from concerts for my spouse, along with light graphic design work. Up until the death, I was limping along on a mid-2009 MBP with a 2.53gHz core 2 duo and 256mb onboard nvidia gpu, 4gb ram.

Thoughts? Cautions? Encouragement? All are welcome.
