For about a week ago or so I started trying to install Mac OS X on the laptop mentioned in the title. But with the extremely moron-safe bios I did not have high expectations.
I began with Niresh, the installation went pretty smooth, but after the apple logo was showing up on the screen during boot-up I got a black screen and then nothing more happened. Then I was forced to learn a lot about how nice the Boot-Repair Rescue ISO was, and then I learnt a lot about bootloader parameters. But with no luck.
Then I went through Hazard 10.6, Hazard 10.8, iAtkos, iBoot + retail, learnt more about bootloader parameters. Almost gave up.
THEN! after a week of failure I had this crazy idea - "I went farthest with Niresh, I have burnt 6 more mac-ISO:s, why not give it yet another very very last try, now when I know a little bit more about boot loaders and boot parameters and mac os x86 ISOs and life in general"...
So I gave it another try, this time I made some customization of the install. Of course I am not exactly sure what I did any longer, but I clicked at things that seemed logical (like nvidia drivers for example) and sometimes I ticked items that I thought at least wont hurt.
Then I initiated my absolutely last attempt with mac os on this machine. Pushed the power on button, and with no parameters during boot, and BLOW ME DOWN WITH A FEATHER - IT WORKED!!!!!
With "worked" it means that I could finalize the installation process, create user accounts, click around, start-up safari, doing simple stuff. It also implies that I got some ntfs errors during the start-up, that I have no ethernet nor wi-fi access, and that it all crashed when I used mission control.
But it feels like success anyway! I drank a glass of very sweet strawberry wine and celebrated all night long. I thought that probably I can solve at least some of the issues that are still left to dig into. After that I have actually not even touched the computer again, I am so out of gas from this mentally energy-intense project. Bit I will definitely continue to see what can be done. Feels like everything is possible, if only you try exactly all combinations of everything in the world.
Just writing this to share my joy and as pep-talk to all other people with the very same Vaio model. Don't give up, it IS possible! :-)
Cheers!
