Hello. I hope someone can help me with my crap mobo. I thought I couldn't install any distro on it but recently I've found that some people have but not with my exact configuration. (My specs are in my sig)
Here's what I've learned so far:
Therese conflicts with DVD sata drives, have to use IDE (or none at all which is what I'm trying to achieve)
USB: some people say to disable USB 2.0 and not legacy some say to disable both and use a ps2 keyboard (which I also have) so I dont know which is it yet.
This is what I'm doing right now: since I don't have an IDE DVD drive I'm installing the "Snow Leopard 10.6.1-10.6.2 Intel AMD made by Hazard" directly to my SSD with VMware.
I did it a long time ago with this exact mobo but got the prohibited symbol on the apple, but the sata dvd drive and usb thing is apparently what causes that so I'm going to try again.
using some of the following options on installation: Legacy kernel, legacy ATI 4800 Controller, 1.6.2 update,
I think those are all. please let me know if Im correct or should use some other more options.
I also have the "Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.6 by HAZARD (RUS/ENG) 2011" iso but I cant get it to boot on VMware it skips the cd boot and goes directly to net boot.
Is this distro better? is there anyway I can get it into an usb drive to I can install it?
I have a macbook but it's in another country, should have it back in about 2 weeks... I have osx running on virtual box too so maybe I can prepare the usb stick there?
any help will be greatly appreciated it I really want to get this done, I need it :(
I'll report in about hour if I was able to install it my way.
EDIT:
it doesn't seem to boot when installed into a physical hd with vmware, I swear I did it once before :(
Im going to see if I can prepair a bootable usb drive
