My setup as follows: Boot Drive: 2.5" to NVMe SSD
Programs Drive: NVMe SSD
External Backup Drive: SATA HDD
I am targeting a RAID 0 array to serve as my onboard mass storage. My external backup drive would then do monthly backups. The RAID 0 array would contain 3 x SATA SSDs.
My use case:
OS X primarily
Windows only for games and windows exclusive applications like MS Access.
Dual Boot between OS X and Windows
Run Windows within OS X via Parallels
All windows games would fit onto the Programs Drive currently, but there may be a use case in the future where it would have to fit onto the Onboard Mass Storage Drive (SATA SSD RAID 0 array)
Requirements:
Native OS X Access
Native or Non-Native (via Network) Windows Access
I think that's it, let me know if I've missed anything.
From what I'm thinking, OS X Software RAID, plus network access from Windows virtualized? But then I can't access the RAID via Windows if I boot straight into it.
